Garmin GMR 406 Open Array Radar
Garmin Updated: 2008-09-17 RSS
The GMR 406 open array radar (pedestal sold separately; click on accessories tab to view pedestal) allows you to scan more of what's out there while you're on the water. Whether ships, shores, birds or weather, you'll see it sooner with the powerful 6-foot GMR 406 and its smaller counterpart, the GMR 404.
See Everything in Sharper Detail
The GMR 406 is a 6-foot open array scanner with 1.1° beamwidth and a range of 72 nautical miles. With this intense beamwidth and 4 kilowatts of power, the 406 offers outstanding clarity, precision and target definition. You can also use the 406 to avoid traffic on the water with MARPA target tracking.
Easily Connect to the Garmin Marine Network
The GMR 406 transmits data over the Garmin Marine Network, a 100-megabit plug-and-play proprietary network that gives you the ability to expand your boat's system as needed. Once connected to the network, any network-compatible Garmin chartplotter can double as your radar screen. And as an aid to locational awareness, you can overlay the GMR 406 radar image on the chartplotter's map page. You can also split the on-screen display so that you can view the map and the standard radar page simultaneously.
