Yamaha YHT-17 Natural Sound One-Box Home Theater Audio System

ALL THE AUDIO EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR SUPERB HOME THEATER IN A SINGLE BOX
Provides an easy way to purchase a home theater component system. The YHT-17 includes versatile home theater receiver, Yamaha's 5-speaker NS-AP16 ensemble, and Yamaha's SW-201 subwoofer to provide deep bass.

5-CHANNEL HOME THEATER RECEIVER
The HTR-5230 is a 5-channel receiver providing Dolby Digital 5.1 channel surround decoding, Yamaha's Digital Sound Field Processing and Yamaha's Tri-Field Processing and Cinema DSP surround technologies.

DISCRETE 6-CHANNEL LINE INPUT
High quality performance today and ready for tomorrow. The HTR-5230 can easily accept the decoded output from any 5.1 channel surround system, whether it's DTS, MPEG-2, DVD Audio, or a system not yet developed.

DISCRETE POWER TRANSISTORS
Discrete power transistors rather than IC chips are used in the amplifier section to provide the cleanest sound possible. The amp delivers 60 watts to each to the five channels.

ACCLAIMED YAMAHA IC CHIPS
Yamaha's YSS-908 chip provides Dolby Digital and Pro Logic with full channel separation and no front-to-back bleedthrough in addition to Music and Cinema DSP and Tri-Field Processing.

17 SURROUND MODES INCLUDING MUSIC, CINEMA AND TRI-FIELD DSP PROGRAMS
Yamaha's exclusive Digital Sound Field Processing for music recreates the acoustic personalities of actual concert halls and other venues. Cinema DSP multiplies the effects of Dolby Pro Logic and Yamaha DSP to provide the best possible Pro Logic movie theater recreation. Tri-Field Processing DSP does the same for Dolby Digital. The HTR-5230's surround modes include Dolby Pro Logic/Enhanced, Dolby Digital/Enhanced, 70mm Movie Theater, Mono Movie, TV Sports, Disco, Rock Concert and Concert Hall.

NEW THIN PROFILE UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL
The new thin profile remote control keypad is ergonomically designed for easy access to the most often used features, functions and operations. It can operate Yamaha A/V components and has pre-set codes for popular brands of TVs, VCRs, DVD players and cable/DBS boxes.

FOUR AUDIO/VIDEO AND TWO AUDIO INPUTS
The HTR-5230 is a truly modern receiver, providing four audio/video inputs and two audio-only inputs (including 2 optical, 1 coax digital inputs).

LOW IMPEDANCE DRIVE CAPABILITY AND IMPEDANCE SWITCHING
Yamaha's famed low impedance drive circuitry is included in this receiver so that it can handle virtually all loads and a wide variety of speakers. For further speaker matching, the receiver's back-panel switches can be set for either high or low-impedance center and surround speakers.

LINEAR DAMPING FACTOR CIRCUIT
The advantage of full range, 20 to 20,000 Hz, damping is that it improves the definition and resolution of the sound output throughout the audible frequency range.

A/B SPEAKER SELECTOR
Allows selection of either a first set of speakers or a second -- or both.

40-STATION DIRECT ACCESS PRESET TUNING
Up to 40 preset AM and FM stations can be grouped in five groups eight stations. These groupings make it easy for family members to easily access their favorite stations or to have musical genres, such as all the jazz stations, grouped together.

BINDING POST SPEAKER TERMINALS
Yamaha's heavy-duty binding post speaker terminals accept banana plugs, spade connectors, and a variety of speaker wire, including heavy gauge cable.

FIVE-PIECE SPEAKER PACKAGE
Yamaha's NS-AP16 package includes five magnetically shielded two-way speakers, each incorporating a 5" cone woofer and 2" cone tweeter. Frequency range is 100 to 20,000 Hz. All five speakers are magnetically shielded, so they can be placed on top near a TV or monitor and not cause picture distortion.

DRAMATIC BASS
The low bass of the YHT-17 system is provided by the Yamaha SW-201 Active Servo Technology subwoofer. It features a 6-1/2" driver and 50 watt amplifier to deliver the sonic punch needed for home theater. It is magnetically shielded, so it can be placed near a TV without degrading the picture. The sub incorporates a volume control and continuously variable high-cut filter to provide a seamless transition from deep bass through the sound spectrum.

SIGNAL SENSING
The subwoofer will automatically activate when its circuitry senses an audio signal and will turn off when the signal has ceased for several minutes.
