Dell PowerVault NF500 Network Attached Storage

The PowerVault NF500 network attached storage NAS solution offers the advantage of commonality with Dell PowerEdge servers, while maintaining the ease of use you’ve come to expect from a traditional storage appliance. The PowerVault NF500 NAS appliance enables IT environments of any size to quickly deploy file sharing and other essential services. It can be set up anywhere on an Ethernet network in as little as 15 minutes and managed remotely from any Windows desktop through a convenient administrative console.

The PowerVault NF500 NAS delivers the performance that customers demand with the drive capacity needed for growing data sets. It’s the perfect balance available in a rack-dense 2U form factor.

This network attached storage device also provides up to 6 internal hard drive bays in its 2U chassis, allowing up to 6TB2 of internal storage that can be deployed when needed.

The PowerVault NF500 NAS appliance offers customers the choice of drive technology; SAS or SATA. Serial-Attached SCSI (SAS) hard drives deliver the next generation of SCSI performance and reliability for critical business applications, while SATA drives provide affordable storage for larger amounts of information.

The PowerVault NF500 network attached storage (NAS) solution is optimized for storing and sharing files and comes pre-loaded with advanced features enabling highly efficient data storage and protection in IT environments with one or more locations. Distributed File System (DFS) provides a central point on the network for storing and sharing files. Users simply map a network connection to one or more folders on the server, and then files can be stored and accessed from the desktop. Additionally, the PowerVault NF500 comes with Single Instance Store (SIS), software that eliminates the duplicate file copies across the network. Create storage capacity by eliminating the duplicate files, all without affecting the user experience.

The PowerVault NF500 NAS device comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2External link, along with pre-configured network protocols and other essential services. This can get you going much quicker than installing and configuring a general-purpose operating system within your own IT department.

The PowerVault NF500 NAS appliance features hot-pluggable redundant power supplies and hard drives, plus multiple SAS RAID options. Redundant NICs and redundant cooling fans keep the NAS appliance running smoothly.
