Leica SP5 X Supercontinuum Confocal

Leica TCS SP5X Supercontinuum Confocal - Tune into any excitation!

The new Leica TCS SP5 X Supercontinuum Confocal is a groundbreaking innovation in confocal microscopy. The system provides full freedom and flexibility in excitation AND emission. This pioneering invention allows researchers for the first time to choose freely any excitation line within the continuous range of 470 to 670 nm - in 1nm increments.

The Leica TCS SP5 X adapts precisely to any sample. Any dye can be optimally excited while cross-excitation and sample damage are reduced to a minimum. Up to eight exctiation lines can be used simultaneously.

The intuitive software LAS AF provides the full freedom and flexibility for the selection of the optimal wavelength.

All broadband capabilities of the Leica TCS SP5, such as the Leica Spectral Detection Technology and the acousto-optical beamsplitter (AOBS®) are included in the Leica TCS SP5 X.

Ready for any future dye
The number of available dyes is growing tremendously. The ability to excite these dyes optimally with ideal spectral detection and minimal sample damage from high excitation sources is challenging. For most imaging applications the number of available dye pairs is endless, however, the ability to properly excite and control cross-excitation is a difficult procedure with the limited fixed laser lines available in today's scanning confocal systems.

A new dimension to spectral separation
New GFP mutants are perfectly separated by excitation mapping with the Leica TCS SP5 X. The true spectral separation allows the user of the emission scan dye separation and excitation scan dye separation for a new dimension in spectral imaging

Confocal microscopy at highest performance levels
The electronically controlled and freely definable AOBS® (Acousto-Optical Beam Splitter) replaces the conventional primary dichroic mirror in the scan head for reflecting excitation light and transmitting emitted fluorescent light. It uses a proprietary sub-system that employs stationary acousto-optical devices. The AOBS® is a freely programmable and highly efficient single or multi-chroic beam splitter which allows spectacular simultaneous imaging of even four fluorescence proteins due to significantly enhanced transmittance. The freedom and flexibility of the white light laser can only be realized with the AOBS®.Both elements are the perfect match for best quality of results in confocal microscopy.

True spectral detection
The Leica Spectral Detection technology is based on a prism. The light coming from the pinhole is spread by the prism into a spectrum and sent to up to five detectors. Continuous adjustable slit-photometers in front of the detectors consist of two motorized barriers which are controlled via software. These barriers can be moved to any wavelength position and mirror those parts of the spectrum to the next detectors which are not selected by the previous photometer. The detectors can make up any conventional filter specification in terms of center frequency and bandwidth.

Maximum efficiency and full tunability guarantees best image quality and least crosstalk in multiparameter fluorescence.

LAS AF - An intuitive interface which provides full freedom and flexibility for scanning
The intuitve interface of the LAS AF makes the Leica TCS SP5 X perfect for basic and advanced users.

In the white light shutter window the excitation lines can easily be selected to any wavelength with 1 nm increments.
Tuning via the LCD control panel allows to select excitation light while scanning.
The interface provides easy access to all scanning parameters for both supecontinuum and fixed laser lines.
