Yamaha DME64N/DME24N Digital Mixing Engines

YAMAHA Updated: 2007-10-05
Yamaha DME64N/DME24N Digital Mixing Engines

This major upgrade significantly enhances the functionality and versatility of the DME series product line the DME64N and DME24N and the DME Satellite models: DME8i-C, DME8o-C, DME4io-C, DME8o-ES, DME8i-ES, and DME4io - which allows advanced audio systems to be designed and implemented via a comprehensive computer interface. The DME Designer software application that provides the programming interface is also being upgraded to Version 3.

Enhanced Automatic Adjustment for Meeting and Conference Rooms
An Auto Gain Control component that automatically compensates for variations in the level of a speakers voice, and an Auto Mixer II component that provides an over-ride function and automatic output level control make it possible to create intelligent systems that provide automated control for applications that dont require the presence of an experienced operator.

Improved Zoning Capabilities
Version 3 includes a Room Combiner component that greatly facilitates the combining and dividing of rooms in conference venues for example, as well as the control of zoning in undivided spaces at shopping centers or theme restaurants. Additional Router and Matrix component variations have also been provided for increasing further the capability and efficiency of system design.

Ambient Noise Compensation
The new Ambient Noise Compensator component can be used to measure ambient noise levels and automatically and dynamically adjust the program level for optimum balance and intelligibility. This function can be useful, for example, to optimize the level of announcements at shopping malls at which the ambient noise level may vary greatly depending on the time of day or day of the week.

Automatic Audio Input Detection
The Audio Detector component generates GPI output based on whether or not an input audio signal is detected. This capability could be used, for example, to automatically pan a camera to the current speaker during a conference, control lighting, or perform other advanced functions. Conversely, it could be used to detect when an audio input has stopped and change scenes accordingly.

Simple Mixer
A simple but very useful stereo mixer available in 16-input and 24-input variations, both with dual auxiliary sends. This component can significantly enhance system design flexibility in a wide range of applications.

Features for Smoother Delivery, Setup and Maintenance
All File export and import capability makes it easy to transfer user modules, image files, and all other relevant DME data from computer to computer, and a Device Information display lists the status of all DME devices on a network. These are just two of many features that make setting up and maintaining a commercial audio system easier and more efficient than ever.

Advanced Support for AMX Touch-panel Controllers
DME series processors are participants in the AMX Duet Partner Program, and offer full support for Dynamic Device Discovery. DME processors, with their extensive feature set and versatility, offer a familiar Duet programming and control environment for smooth integration with other Duet devices. Version 3 additionally allows AMX and DME Satellite devices to be connected via Ethernet for significantly improved cabling efficiency.

Yamaha is currently working with Crestron to implement full compatibility and easy programming with their touch-panel controllers as well.

Remote Control of Internal Mic/Line Head Amplifiers
This upgrade makes it possible to remotely control the gain of the high-performance microphone/line head amplifiers built into the DME24N, DME8i, and DME4io units via AD8HR protocol. This means that the DME head amplifiers can be remotely controlled via an expansion slot on the LS9 or a similar digital mixer or any other product with HA remote capability and a Dsub 9-pin REMOTE connector.

DME Satellite ES Type Support
The DME Designer application provides full support for the DME Satellite ES types to be released concurrently with the start of the DME Version 3 download service, giving you a choice of audio network protocols to suit your specific application. Install the Yamaha MY16-CII CobraNet interface or Auvitran AVY16-ES EtherSound interface in a DME-N unit to allow remote connection to the corresponding type of DME Satellite I/O unit for flexible network system construction.

Daylight Saving Time
A preference has been added that allows easy daylight saving time compensation when using the Event Scheduler and Wav File Player components to provide automated chimes or announcements.
